Day 1: Ho Chi Minh arrival

You are welcome by our guide at Tan Son Nhat airport and then be transferred to your hotel in the center of city. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City

Day 2: Ho Chi Minh city tour – Cu Chi tunnel (B)

Visit Cu Chi tunnels, the incredible underground tunnel network constructed by Vietnamese fighters during the long struggle for independence. Take a guided tour of the Cu Chi tunnels with a veteran guide to gain deep insight and personal accounts of the wartime era. On arrival he will meet the group and take them on a guided tour of the tunnels together with Vietnamstay guide (his service is subject to availability). If desired (and not for the faint hearted and on own account) a round of bullets can be fired from an AK47 gun at a target range at the tunnels.
Optional: To give wildlife a hand we would to invite you to do responsible travel with us. Wildlife At Risk (WAR) is dedicated to protecting the biodiversity of Vietnam by combating the illegal wildlife trade, raising environmental awareness and promoting the conservation of endangered species and their habitats – an sustainable tourism center. Children would love this center.
In the afternoon, visit China town with Thien Hau pagoda, FITO traditional Medicine museum. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.

Day 3: Ho Chi Minh city – Mekong Delta/Overnight at homestay (B,L,D)

Early departure required at 7:30AM.
Arrive in the town of My Tho where you will take a boat trip over the Tien River to Ben Tre Island. As you cross over the river (a branch of the Mekong) you will pass sand barges and small sampan fishing boats, an insight into daily life on the Mekong Delta. Half way across the river you will stop at Phoenix Islet where you will encounter local families making coconut rice paper as well as handicrafts made from coconut shells. From here continue to Tan Thach where you’ll pick up your bicycle and begin your 8-km ride through the coconut groves and remote villages, along the way observing the simplicity of life on the Mekong.
Stop for a traditional style Vietnamese lunch by a tiny tributary of the Tien River. After your meal take a leisurely boat trip passing by an eclectic mix of Mekong style boats laden with sand, fruit, fish, coconuts – this is as close as it comes to life on the river. Delve back in time stopping at the small family run cottage industries that trade in coconuts, as well as traditional salt making workshop, a grass mat weaving hamlet and a brick kiln factory. Continue by driver to Mo Cay district, from here cross over a tributary of the Mekong by local ferry before arriving at your homestay located on Long Island which is renowned for its fruit orchards and sedge fields (this grass is used to make traditional mats). The homestay is unique and the only one to be found on this Delta Island and you will be made to feel as a member of the family. In the late afternoon you will have a chance to practice making banh xeo – a type of savory pancake and a specialty of the Mekong region. After dinner, spend time with the family to learn more on their life, culture as well as the history of this Island.

Day 4: Mekong Delta – Ho Chi Minh city (B, L)

Wake up to the sound of the countryside. After breakfast start exploring the island by bicycle (or on foot) through the village to sedge fields, here see the cutting and weaving of this grass which is used to make traditional mats. En-route visit a shrine dedicated to Thoai Ngoc Hau who was one of the founders of the area. At then end of the morning return to the house for lunch before taking the ferry back to Vung Liem to visit a Khmer pagoda which dates back to 1377. Continue to Vinh Long city, en-route see the vast expanses of rice fields, and if you are lucky the local farmers harvesting their crop. In Vinh Long visit the local market, this is an excellent place to take photographs and a huge array of fresh produce is on offer. End the tour and start the drive back to Ho Chi Minh City where you will arrive in the late afternoon.

Day 5: Ho Chi Minh city – Nha Trang by flight (B)

After breakfast, take a short flight to Nha Trang, a city right on the beach. Check-in hotel and rush to beach for relaxation or swimming and many more activities. Overnight in Nha Trang.

Day 6: Nha Trang (B/L)

Start from your hotel to Cau Da Port. Tri Nguyen Aquarium on Mieu Island will be the first place to visit, where many marine species of Nha Trang/Khanh Hoa Province create a small ocean world. Mun Island is the best for snorkeling where you can see plenty of living colorful coral and fish. Visit a fishing village and enjoy a fresh lunch on the island. On the way back you will be able to see caves in which the sea swallows make their nests.
In the afternoon take a half-day tour to visit the Cham Po Nagar Towers, and the Thap Ba Hot Spring center, where you will have fun with mud bathing and mineral springs swimming. Overnight in Nha Trang

Day 7: Nha Trang – Hoian (B)

Leave Nha Trang on the morning flight to Danang (08:05-09:20). Upon arrival in Danang airport, pick up and transfer to Hoian city for visiting Hoi An ancient city. The visit includes Japanese covered bridge, some Chinese Assembly Halls, and some typical Vietnamese houses of 18 century.
Free in the afternoon for shopping and beach relaxation.

Day 8: Hoian – Danang – Hue (B)

In the afternoon, take half day excursion to Tra Que Vegetable Village, walk around a vegetable garden and join the farmers in preparing the land, fertilizing it with seaweed from the local lake, raking, sowing, watering greens, picking greens and many more gardening activities. After gardening activities you will be relaxed with foot massage with many kinds of herb remedy. Then spend the rest time to learn how to prepare ‘Tam Huu’ spring roll & banh xeo with your host. Back to your hotel for checking out.
In the afternoon, drive to Hue through the famous Hai Van pass with a visit to the Cham Museum on the way. Check-in hotel for overnight in Hue.

Day 9: Hue city (B)

Start your exploration of Hue at the Imperial Citadel where the Nguyen Dynasty ruled between 1802 and 1945. After exploring the ruins of this wonderful monument take a cyclo through the ‘Old City’ to Tinh Tam Lake where the Emperors used to come to relax, full of lotus flowers in summer there are many local style coffee shops around the lake where university students come to study.
Embark a boat to visit Thien Mu Pagoda – Hue’s best-preserved religious monument. Standing on the riverbank with its seven-storey tower, the pagoda is a sight to behold.
In the afternoon, drive to visit the serene Tu Duc Tomb – the ‘poet Emperor’, is set in an elegant garden with a magnificent lake and pavilion complex. Continue to visit the elaborate Khai Dinh Royal Tomb – architecture and atmosphere showcase elements of eastern art and western designs.
Stop over Dong Ba Vibrant Market & China town next door before back the hotel.
Overnight in Hue

Day 10: Hue – Hanoi  (B)

Morning free for relaxing or optional visits till noon flight to Hanoi. You are arrival at our thousand years Capital – Hanoi city. Our guide will welcome you at the airport Noi bai airport and then be transferred to your hotel in the center of city.
After freshen up, we would like to show you of Hanoian daily life with one hour Cyclo (trishaw) ride around the old streets and stop to visit Ngoc Son temple then enjoy one hour Traditional Water Puppets show at Thang Long theatre. Back to your hotel after the show, or free time then on for your dinner.
Note on big group up to 10 persons Vietnamstay will offer a local touching mini water puppet shows at one of the most well-known artist’s house. Visit his house in the Ha Noi narrow alley, chat with the family to learn about the history of a water puppet.

Day 11: Hanoi full day visit – night train to Lao Cai (B)

The full day tour commences with visit to Hochiminh’s Mausoleum (Mondays & Fridays closed), His House on Stilt, One Pillar Pagoda, and Van Mieu (our first national university.)
In the afternoon, discover more of Hanoi with the visit to Ethnology Museum of Vietnam then back to centre for visit Hilton prison or Museum of Art. Dinner on your own while waiting for local train to Lao cai – Sapa. Overnight on train.

Day 12: Lao Cai – Sapa – Lao Chai – Ta Van (B)

Soft trek
Upon arrival at Lao Cai, our local guide and car will pick you up and transfer you to Sapa. Enjoy the breakfast at a restaurant and relax before continue drive to Lao Chai Village of Black H’mong people. Take a light trek through Muong Hoa Valley with beautiful scenery to Ta Van Village of Dzay ethnic people. Continue to visit the Ma Tra village. Then return to Sapa for overnight.

Day 13: Sapa– Sa Seng – Hau Thao – Giang Ta  Chai – Night Train To hanoi(B)

Intermediate Trek
Breakfast at hotel and the car will drive you to Sa Seng Village. Here you will have a panoramic view of the whole Sapa town, with beautiful green landscape. We see the Muong Hoa valley, inhabited villages ethnic black H’Mong. Continue to Chua Sau village. Upon arriving, we start to trek for about 03 hours to tribes Hau Thao and Giang Ta Chai. On the road, the landscape opened our eyes more and more fantastic and beautiful: the stairs of rice fields, the houses of local people. Picnic lunch and return to Sapa before transfer to Lao Cai for a train to Hanoi. Overnight in shared cabin of 04 berth soft on train.

Day 14: Hanoi – Ha Long (B/L/D)

Arrive in Hanoi around 4:30am – 5:00am. Transfer to a local restaurant for breakfast.
After breakfast, take 3.5 hours drive to Halong bay, a World Heritage Area of outstanding natural beauty. Upon arrival, transfer to a junk for a cruise trip around Ha Long Bay with a delicious local seafood lunch served on board. The cruise passes by many rocks and islets in many funny shapes. The cruise may stop for a while for visiting a beautiful case, if not today, you will do tomorrow according to each boat/junk’s itinerary. Again your dinner served on board. In the evening, enjoy the night fishing (optional) and later overnight on board.

Day 15: Halong Bay– Hanoi (BRUNCH)

In the morning, your breakfast or brunch will be served while doing further cruise to explore the beauties of the Bay before returning to the Wharf. Enjoy brunch on board before disembarking. Pick up and transfer back to Hanoi for overnight stay.

Day 16: Hanoi City – Departure (B)

Free time for shopping before transferring to Noi Bai Airport for departure. End of service.
